While I'm travelling...

...here's a little something for you. I found this song one or two years ago on a blog about world music (I forgot which one). This song "Wuji" is performed by a Chinese-Mongolian band called Hanggai.

From what I know, this group uses both traditional instruments and overtone singing to create their particular sound. In the magazin "Geo" I read that the singer, Ilchi was once front singer of a punk band in Beijing when he listened to an overtone singing performance. After that he decided to return to (the Chinese part of) Mongolia, the land where he had come from. He learned Mongolian and the traditional instrument Morin Khuur and founded this band.

This is the only "Chinese" song I own, btw. I don't know what they're singing about but I like the song itself.
