Hi there! Scented polishes are a trend that pop up occasionally. I remember seeing some scented nail polishes when I was... hmm... 14?

Trends in fashion and beauty are a funny thing. Now everyone will agree that absolutely new things don't come around too often. Neon colours, leggings, blue eyeshadow... been there, saw that (except taupe nail polish - that was actually new, as far as I know). It is mostly eclecticism and recombinations that make up innovation nowadays. Remixes and sampling, if you will.

Anyway, my nails smell deliciously like artificial raspberry. I used a bottle of polish that I bought in China and didn't even notice that it was scented.  Nice surprise :) As always you can click on the pictures to enlarge.

The list of polishes:

• P2 Hypoallergen + Quick Dry Base Coat (for sensitive nails... whatever that is)
• Sasatinnie Super Dolly Fantasy Color (black with silvery blue shimmer flecks/particles)
• Essence tip art painter Silver Surfer
• ring finger: Manhattan Glamoration LE (from the nineties!, dark blue), topped with Essence Mermaid Tears, nail art sequins
• Essence BTGN topsealer

Have a nice evening everyone!

Hello everybody :) I finally did my own nails in a way I would actually want to present it to you. Since I started working on monday I didn't have the time I needed to be really creative. Also the weather in Munich was so weird. We had a lot of thunderstorms and the air was so moist that I got tons of bubbles on my nails right after applying the very first coat of polish... (high humidity can cause bubbling...) :-/

This week I'm sporting an ombre manicure in curry colours. Ombre manicures are quite easy to do: Just choose polishes that describe some kind of colour gradation and put one colour on one nail. In the right order it becomes a gradation :) Of course I spiced it up a little and used four colours on my thumb and added some rhinestones in more or less matching colours.

Here's what I used:

• P2 Base + Care Coat
• Essence Color and Go in Gold Rush (beige gold)
• P2 Sun City Ocean Drive (curry)
• Catrice Caramé Spiced Bronze (bronze, who would have guessed...)
• Essence Bondi Beach BBC Golden Sands
• different rhinestones from T€di and Kik
• Manhattan Topcoat / Essence Better than Gel Nails Topsealer (this one's highly recommended, dries quite fast and gives a glossy, almost jelly-like finish)

I decided that I will do about two manicures a week, a simple one on tuesdays/wednesdays and a more creative one on sundays. If they get posted... we'll see...

Until then have a good time!

Yay, time for a new manicure! I hope that I will have some time to paint my nails in the future because I will start working soon... it's going to be in an editorial department of a web enterprise. So basically writing articles and doing social media. :)

This time I decided for a combination of green and blue: Funky French tips with a special ringfinger. See those cool flakies on the ringfinger? This was an awesome find at a Müller drugstore. It was the only bottle I could find and cost me 80 cents only. That's quite cheap for an Nfu.Oh-like effect, right? Finding exceptional polishes always gets me so excited!

Here's what I used for my manicure:

• P2 Base + Care Coat
• P2 Sun Love LE - summer cocktail (this green is gorgeous, this is one coat)
• Modelité HD Blue (for the tips and two coats for the ringfinger)
• Sinful Colors Nail Junkie (nice green and gold glitter)
• Glam Nails 90 Larissa (one coat of glorious holographic flakies on the ringfinger... an awesome find at the Müller drugstore - for 80 cents only!)
• Manhattan Topcoat

I painted the tips free hand because I wanted it to be quick. I know that it would have looked way more accurate if I had used scotch tape but I was just too lazy for that...

Until next time!

Hi guys, it's been a while :)

Lately I wasn't very lucky with neither nail polish nor designs. It seems like my Manhattan topcoat is getting a bit old because it causes severe bubbling and doesn't dry as fast as it used to. You will notice bubbles on my index finger. And my ringfinger had an unfortunate encounter with my bedlinen... *sighs*

My love for nail polish has some downsides: I own so many bottles now that I try out a new one almost every time I do a manicure. Even an experienced nail polish applier like me has some unpredictable issues with some polishes sometimes. Some formulas are extremely gloopy or incredibly thin, become streaky, take forever to dry or they are downright unusable...

Well, let's move on to the list of nail polishes used this this manicure:

• P2 Base + Care Coat (I need a new basecoat as well, I think. Preferably a quick drying one.)
• China Glaze Midnight Kiss (nice gold...)
• Catrice Spiced Bronze (looks great on tanned skin with yellow undertone)
• Essence Copper Rulez! for the lines (I know it's a magnetic polish so this effect has gone to waste a bit.)
• flower shaped rhinestones from T€di (a 1-euro shop, which is the German equivalent to dollar shops I guess)
• Manhattan topcoat

See you again soon!

I can't leave without posting one manicure before for you guys :) So since I'm going to travel to China I thought of putting a very feminine (some would say tacky) and Asian inspired manicure. Maybe some of you know the very extreme Japanese nail art designs with a gazillion beads, lace and more. Like here: CLICK

It also looks a bit like traditional prints for kimono or ao dai (the classic Vietnamese apparel).
Of course it's pink (goes without saying) and very sparkly. The light pink was a pain in the ass. Since I knew it was thin as water I put a layer of plain white under it. Still it needed two coats... And the glitter polish... it's made in China and despite its beauty (like the hexagonal glitter chunks), it stinks like hell and it is quite thick.

So the list of polishes I used:

• P2 Base + Care Coat
• Manhattan Quick Dry polish in plain white
• Catrice Biscuits and Cupcakes (light pink)
• Essence Hypnotic Poison (dark blueish red)
• BK design glitter polish
• Flower shaped glitters
• Manhattan Pro Shine top coat

See you!

Hi folks, I have another nail design for you!

The last pic might be a bit blurry, but there you can see the shimmery glass-fleck effect a bit better.

The polishes I used:

• P2 Base + Care Coat
• Make Up Factory No. 412 (the shimmery light pink)
• Artdeco No. 291 (red)
• Artdeco No. 275 (purple)

Here are the polishes I used

•  P2 Base + Care Coat
• Taupe: Essence All Access (a nightmare to apply, avoid if possible!)
• Dark red: P2 Diva
• Green: P2 Vibrant Green (LE, matte green with golden shimmer)
• Glitter polish on top: Incolor by jordana Uptown Lights (an awesome find at a C&A store)
• White: err, dunno, some old white
• Manhatta ProShine topcoat

As you can see, the design is not all that neutral. Combined with the other colours it has more of the forest/autumn vibe. I might even start to like taupe...

Here's what I used:

• P2 Base + Care Coat
• Essence Pool Party (lighter blue with glass flecks)
• Essence Choose me (French tips)
• Manhattan Aluminiums 319 (metallic polishes were quite hip in the beginning 2000s)
• Claire's Holographic Glitter polish
• Manhattan Pro Shine Topcoat
• Scotch tape

Hey everyone! I have another Chinese New Year manicure for you :)

crappy winter daylight

I didn't win the other nail art contest (well, tough competition. Some had the incredible advantage of owning konad plates... kidding), but I like creative contests, so I'll try my luck in my private jet's make-up contest. If you understand German, go check out her blog. I've been a reader for about a year now and haven't regretted that ever since.

So, enough with the praise. Back to business: The task is to create a make-up or nail design with your Chinese horoscope sign. My sign is the bull/cow/buffalo, so I kinda cut a cow into pieces and painted it on my nails.* You can win five nail polishes from the OPI Hongkong collection.

Here's what I used:

• P2 Base + Care Coat (yeah, I know, I use that every time, but as I like to say: never change a winning team)
• P2 147 perfectly (I thought it was a light brown. I forgot that my skintone is a tad bit darker than the average European's, so this turns out to be the perfect nude polish for me)
• French tips: Chifure Nail Enamel (red with gold glitter, Japanese brand), Catrice Spiced Bronze (bronze, great for my skintone)
• cow pieces: Essence 22 fatal
• Essence Quick Dry Drops (I like those - cheap and easy to handle)
• Manhattan Pro Shine Quick Dry topcoat

*No animal was harmed or killed in the process.

I used the following nail polishes:

• China Glaze Midnight Kiss
• Astor Fash'n Studio no. 25
• P2 Snow White
• Flowers: Basic Nailpolish no. 29, Essence Black Out
• Tangerines: Manhattan Quick Dry no. 321, Essence Black Out
• Cat: Essence Black Out
• Essence Quick Dry Drops
• Depend Top Coat

See you next time!

English:
Blue is one of my favourite colours. So today's manicure is all in blue. Again I used dots as decoration. They are easy to do (with a toothpick or a dotting tool) on the one hand, and they are very versatile on the other hand.

Actually I wanted to paint all my nails like my two thumbs but I didn't have that much time (difficult exam ahead of me). Yet, the nails are shining nicely. :)

I know that the nail polish addicts are divided into two groups: Those who adore nail design and those who despise it. I'm in the first group, who would have guessed. Since my nails are the only bling-bling in my outfit I think that this is still ok and not tacky.

I used the following polishes:

• P2 Base + Care Coat
• Eyeko Rain Polish (index finger)
• P2 triple power nailpolish 091 (middle finger)
• P2 color victim dangerous (ring finger)
• Essence nail art twins bonnie (pinkie)
• on top of that: Manhattan Aqua Pearls 114
• dots: Manhattan super quick dry 80
• quick-drying topcoat

See you on my blog again soon!
